The U.S. Supreme Court says that sexual harassment training and procedures protect employers from punitive damages. They recommend training, one on one coaching for accused harassers, a sexual harassment policy and procedures, and a harassment investigation checklist. Do you have those in place?

What have the courts said about sexual harassment training...

In January of 2006 a jury awarded a plaintiff $6.8 million dollars in a sexual harassment case in the Kansas City area.  These cases were historically tried in the federal courts but a Missouri Supreme Court ruling allowed them to be tried in state courts.  The courts have made it very clear time and again that a business owner must have a sexual harassment policy, must provide training for employees on sexual harassment, and must have a method for taking action when complaints are lodged.
Contact us if you have not trained your employees, have not developed a policy, or do not have a process in place for an employee to file a complaint and resolve the issue without the courts.
