How are harassment cases resolved by the legal system?
The U.S. Supreme Court says that sexual harassment training and
procedures protect employers from punitive damages. They recommend
training, one on one coaching for accused harassers, a sexual
harassment policy and procedures, and a harassment investigation
checklist. Do you have those in place? |

What have
the courts said about sexual harassment training...
In January of 2006 a jury awarded a
plaintiff $6.8 million dollars in a sexual harassment case in the
Kansas City area. These cases were historically tried in the federal
courts but a Missouri Supreme Court ruling allowed them to be tried
in state courts. The courts have made it very clear time and again
that a business owner must have a sexual harassment policy, must
provide training for employees on sexual harassment, and must have a
method for taking action when complaints are lodged.
Contact us if you have not trained your employees, have not
developed a policy, or do not have a process in place for an
employee to file a complaint and resolve the issue without the
courts. |
